Current Role

Gary Allen is the founder of Real Capital Advisors, LLC, a corporate advisory firm which was launched in 2004. He utilizes his experience and relationships to source, underwrite and enhance opportunities. He is also responsible for operations of the organization.

In addition to his business career,  Gary has been an angel investor and advisor to numerous start-ups, early stage and stabilized companies in industries ranging from real estate, construction, technology, medical, agriculture, aviation, education and oil and gas.

Before embarking on his career in business and real estate, Gary earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with emphasis in Real Estate and Finance from Southern Methodist University and is a current licensed Texas real estate broker.

Past Experience

Gary Allen’s experience spans more  than 35 years in business building, growing and restructuring as well as advisory services in the commercial real estate industry.  Prior to forming Real Capital Advisors, LLC, he was the Co-Founder, President and  Board Member of Real Capital Markets.Com, Inc. (RCM1.COM), a global marketplace for buying and selling CRE that he incepted in November 1999.   He oversaw all phases of the company’s business and software development, business development as well as taking the company from startup to profitability. Angel round investors in RCM1 include Sam Zell’s-Equity Residential Company, Neal Bluhm’s-Walton Street Capital, Stuart Boesky -The Pembrook Group, Darla Flanagan-Fowler Flanagan Partners, David Schwartz, Waterton Associates, and 35 other well known real estate names. .

By 2004, under Gary’s direction, Real Capital Markets facilitated the sale of over 15,000 successful transactions and $500 billion sold commercial real estate which equated to 33% of all commercial real estate assets with a minimum value of $10 million, sold in the United States. To date, the Company has executed more than 76,000+ assignments with total consideration in excess of $2.5 trillion, with over 50% of all U.S. commercial assets sold, over $10 million.  Some notable transactions include Donald Trumps GM Tower in Manhattan, John Hancock Life Insurance Headquarters in Boston, GM Mall Portfolio that was purchased by The Mills Corporation, the 6.4 million SF Wells office and industrial portfolio, CarrAmerica Portfolio, The Pritzker Apartment Portfolio and many other trophy assets across the U.S.

Prior to co-founding Real Capital Markets, Gary was an investment advisor with a major national Real Estate Investment brokerage company. Gary was responsible for managing the origination, analysis, and sales of commercial real estate. Gary specialized in the capitalization of investment real estate and multi-market portfolios through direct sales and structured transactions.  Gary has represented over 100 different companies, in excess of 250 transactions, totaling more than $3 billion in consideration across apartment and retail property sectors and regions of the country.
